Loose Change

Yes, I know, long time no write. Thanks for all the nudging e-mails I’ve been receiving. Three months have passed and a lot has happened in the world. Where should I start? I don’t know. I’ll try to make a few new posts within the next few days, because there are plenty of issues/news to write about.
But before anything else, I would like to introduce you to “Loose Change”, if you haven’t already seen it or heard about it. Recently I’ve stumbled upon this “underground video”, which states that the attacks on September 11th were actually planned by the US administration. What a nonsense, I though to myself, and I still think it’s a total nonsense, but the scary part is that the creators of this video have made it very convincing to the average layman.
“Loose Change” is a deceitful and dangerous film, manipulating quotes, news, facts and so-called evidences to support certain conclusions. Nevertheless, it is cleverly made and the original video (as well as the “Second Edition” and “Final Cut” version of it) succeeds in fooling and convincing people who do not know much about the details or how a professional documentary should be presented.
As for me, from the very first minutes of viewing it I found holes in it and I asked myself:
- Where can I see a confirmation for that quote or claim?
- Is this presented in the proper context?
- Are they deliberately ignoring known facts?
- Are some people in America so bored that they would actually put so much effort in creating such a detailed conspiracy theory?
Apparently and unfortunately, the answer to my last question is Yes.
“Loose Change” is a good manipulation, and you could do the same kind of manipulation with anything; facts can always be presented in such a way that the truth would appear to be "on your side". A very well edited and fact-distorting film is not the truth; it is a creation of people who want (for some reason) to escape from the very plain and simple truth: the September 11th events were planned and performed by a fanatic/radical Islam group named Al Qaeda, who wanted, and still want to hurt the United States, Israel and the entire democratic west. They have no fear of death. They took flight lessons and trained themselves in order to hijack passenger planes and crush them into their “targets”. It’s as simple as that, and far more logical than any government conspiracy theory.
Some say the lunar landing was a hoax, and that it was all orchestrated in a Hollywood or NASA studio: http://www.moonmovie.com/moonmovie/default.asp. And this is where it becomes dangerous: when we are unable to distinguish between reality, real facts and bogus conspiracies.
I ran a Google search on the Loose Change film, and as you can guess there are many articles that refute all its so-called claims. I’ve found the most compelling footage-by-footage counter video here:

Even though I discourage the use of the word “Screw” on the title of this counter video (since after all it is about a delicate and important matter), I congratulate Mark Iradian for this footage-by-footage ‘stop and think’ approach. As you can see, every single claim in the original Loose Change (or the second edition/final cut of it) can be explained, countered or refuted. The truth (which we all knew already) is much different and simpler than claimed in Loose Change.
